Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how NAS Photos & Stories (the “App”) handles information. The App is an independent application and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Synology Inc.
The developer does not operate an intermediary photo service. Your photos and related library information are requested directly from the Synology NAS address you provide.
Information you provide
To connect to your NAS, the App asks for its address, your Synology username and password, and, when required, a one-time authentication code. These details are sent to the NAS you specify so that it can authenticate you.
The NAS address and username may be stored locally on your device to make future sign-in easier. The session identifier is stored in the iOS Keychain. If you enable “Remember Me,” your password and a Synology trusted-device token may also be stored in the iOS Keychain.
Photos and library information
The App retrieves photos, videos, thumbnails, albums, people, dates, and related metadata from your NAS to display the features you request. This content is not uploaded to a server operated by the developer.
Downloaded images and videos may be cached temporarily on your device for display and playback. The App also stores limited local preferences and feature state, such as viewed Story history and the selected free Story.
Purchases
Optional purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. The developer does not receive your full payment-card details. Apple provides the App with transaction and entitlement information needed to unlock purchased features. Apple handles this information under its own privacy policy.
Notifications
If you grant permission, the App may schedule local notifications for photo memories. These notifications are created and delivered by your device; the App does not use a developer-operated push-notification server for this feature.
Analytics, advertising, and tracking
The App does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs and does not track you across apps or websites.
Sharing and disclosure
The developer does not sell your personal information. Information is exchanged with the NAS you choose and with Apple where required for App Store purchases and platform services. Information may also be disclosed if required by applicable law.
Data retention and deletion
Signing out removes the saved session, remembered password, and trusted-device token from the App. The NAS address and username may remain locally to prefill the sign-in screen. Deleting the App removes its locally stored information from your device, subject to the normal operation of iOS and iCloud device backups.
To remove photos or account information stored on your NAS, use Synology Photos or your NAS administration tools.
Security
Sensitive credentials saved by the App are protected using the iOS Keychain. You are responsible for securing your NAS and selecting a trusted connection. If you explicitly allow the App to accept an invalid or self-signed certificate, the connection may offer less protection than a connection using a valid TLS certificate.
Children’s privacy
The App is not directed specifically to children, and the developer does not knowingly collect children’s personal information through a developer-operated service.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the App’s features or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top of this page will identify the latest version.
